Voting Question: What was the purpose of this scene in the movie?

I recently watched the movie "So I Married an Axe Murderer" with Mike Myers. It was funny and all and ended in an interesting twist but I was wondering. During the last few scenes Mike is staying with his new wife at a hotel for their honeymoon. There is a short clip of his wife getting out of the shower and the has a chain with three rings on it. (Her previous wedding rings, I presume.) And she has them in some sort of container of powder.. What is the meaning of this scene? They never explain it.. It doesn't make sense to me. Thank you!
